Our Grand Staircase and Internal Framing

The picture at the right is our way of getting to the upstairs before the carpenter built our regular staircase. We had been using a ladder but it was difficult to lug tools and supplies up that way.
When the window openings were cut out of the stressed skin outside walls the "outtakes" were just stacked up for disposal. They are very light, made mostly of rigid foam and most are about the same width. With a little planning and some trial and error I put the pieces together to make a very sturdy staircase. It was used for several months while the sound treatment and Luan on the upper floor and other jobs were completed
